The H-1B lobby group that calls themselves "Immigration Voice" (IV) put a
video on Youtube.

Their website is at:
http://immigrationvoice.org/

To watch the video go to:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqHz7IGoYWQ

The founder of IV, Aman Kapoor, asks for donations of $50-$100 a month to
help lobby for more H-1B visas. He assures his audience that all donations
will be spent, "wisely and honestly".

He said all volunteers working for IV are waiting for their green cards,
which seems to imply they are on H-1B visas. It's most interesting that he
said some of them have been waiting 6 to 10 years for their Green Cards.
Apparently many of them are using the "7th year extension" to continue
their H-1B visas until they get their green card. This is a good
illustration how the extension loophole has turned H-1B into a permanent
visa.

To find out more about the 7th year extension go to the archive and read:
"the Seventh year extension of H-1B, May 15, 2002".

I'm including a newsletter from Kapoor that has a partial transcript of the
video but I found it interesting that it's missing some important quotes
from Kapoor:

"You are working amongst the best and brightest in the world,
and getting the best paycheck the world has to offer."

"We jumped through a lot of hurdles when we came to the U.S.
No one came to our doorsteps with job offers and visas. Now
is a time for a different kind of strategy.

"It only makes sense that we do something for ourselves".

I only wish more American workers would heed Kapoor's advice about helping
themselves. Oh well, perhaps one day we will have our own special interest
lobbying group. Until then, all we can do is watch Immigration Voice, and
make sure they don't do anything illegal -- and most importantly hope that
they don't succeed.

I have written quite a bit about this group in case you want further
information. Go to the archive and read "H-1Bs go to K Street April 26,
2006 No. 1466".

I always get a lot of questions about the legality of Immigration Voice
everytime I do a newsletter on them. Please folks, before asking me any
questions, spend some time reading the above mentioned newsletter.

Hope you enjoy my provocative comments on Youtube!

Before you donate to Immigration Voice, how about helping
JobDestruction.info out first? To find out how scroll to the bottom of the
page. I have expenses too, and the time it takes to make these newsletters
is more than you could imagine.

Immigration Voice Newsletter

16th Jan 2007.

Its been little over a year since Immigration Voice was founded. The
memories of last one year of this struggle bring mixed feelings with it. On
one hand we are glad that we were able to influence the senate version of
Comprehensive reform. On the other hand, there has been not a single
immigration law change in the entire year of 2006. However, the biggest
news of 2006 for Immigration Voice is that we raised over 200,000 dollars
and got thousands of members funding and enabling this effort. This is not
a small feat for a non-profit that is funded in small contributions by
grassroots and there arent many organizations that can get such support
in one year. On behalf of Immigration Voice core group, I whole-heartedly
thank everyone for enabling this effort.

Now the time has come for another long year of advocacy for our issues.
We have received very strong indications from some offices that Congress
would take up Comprehensive reform in spring of 2007 and be done with it by
August. This year, the chances of either comprehensive reform or a
high-skill reform similar to SKIL bill are much higher than they were in
2006. We need all hands on deck for this year. We are beginning a monthly
recurring contribution signups of 20, 50 or 100 dollars per month that
would really take this organization at a level where we can not only have
amendments to the bill but also try to make a difference in the original
version before its debated on the full floor of senate and the house.
People opposing us have a slight edge as they have been doing this longer
than we have. However I am confident that we can beat them both in funds
and in membership if every one, and I mean every one of you reading this
newsletter actually stands up and speaks up. To mount a substantial
lobbying effort we absolutely have to spend tens of thousands more each
month in advocacy efforts. However, to enable such funding, your share
could only be as little as 20 dollars per month and we can still meet the
goals because of the sheer number of people affected by this issue.

Rest assured, we are a non-profit 501(C) (4) organization and we do not
have any paid volunteers. All the money that is spent is only spent on 2
things: Lobbying and website maintenance. Please be assured that your
contribution will be spent wisely and honestly. The tax laws would protect
the funds from being misused for any kind of personal gain. Volunteers
running this organization are on H1B visa themselves and they have much
more to lose by misusing the funds and breaking the law. Your contributions
are legal by every book. As non-citizens you have the right to petition the
government for your issues and that right is granted to everyone on this
land not just the citizens. If there were anything illegal or unethical, we
wouldnt be doing this, as we wouldnt want to jeopardize our own
immigration or our own careers.

So please signup for recurring contributions per month and make yourself
heard loud and clear.

Thank you.

Aman Kapoor

President, Immigration Voice.
