Lieberman sure has been busy lately. Recently he came to Nogales,
Arizona to support the guest-worker/amnesty bill that McCain, Kyle, and
Flake are pushing. He wanted to do anything to appease Presidente Fox's
wishes to export more of his overpopulation to the U.S. to take our
jobs. Lieberman said that we need a new massive guest worker and
amnesty bill. Not once did he say anything about protecting jobs that
citizens are trying to hold onto.

Now he is in Albany pretending that he cares about American jobs.

Senator: Stop shipping chip manufacturing overseas

Citing serious national security implications, Sen. Joseph Lieberman on
Monday called on the Pentagon to help halt the U.S. economy's loss of
the semiconductor manufacturing industry.

Lieberman, D-Conn., said he's concerned about the ongoing shift of the
manufacturing, research and design sectors of the semiconductor
industry to China, and the long-term national security consequences of
that.

In a report sent to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Lieberman
requested the Pentagon submit a detailed plan of action to respond to
the problem within three months.

"The U.S. is facing an imminent threat to national security as a result
of the changing composition of the semiconductor industry and foreign
government actions which have capitalized on those alterations," the
report said.

"If this accelerating shift in manufacturing overseas continues, the
U.S. will lose the ability to reliably obtain high-end chips from
trusted sources. This will pose serious national security concerns to
our defense and intelligence communities."

In a bid to cut costs, more and more chipmakers are moving operations
overseas. For example, Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Advanced Micro Devices
Inc. (NYSE: AMD) bypassed Central Texas for a new multibillion-dollar
chipmaking plant in Signapore. However, that project now is on hold.
