As you recall from part 2 of "Gangs of New Jersey", the IndiaTimes
claimed that Sen. Shirley Turner was "persuaded" by the ITAA and
NASSCOM to table her anti-outsourcing legislation. The IndiaTimes spoke
too soon because Turner hasn't given up on her bill and she hasn't
relented to their pressure.

The first email shown below was sent by TechsUnite.org. Turner promptly
answered my questions in the 3rd. Fortunately Turner is well aware of
NASSCOMs presence and remains defiant.

Below these letters you will see contact information for the assembly
persons. There is also a parsed list of email addresses to make it
easier for you to send group emails.

In the next newsletter I will demonstrate why it's important to rally
support for Sen. Shirley Turner.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to inform me of the support
for my anti-outsourcing legislation. I greatly appreciate hearing from
you and knowing of your position on this important matter.

I want to make it clear to everyone who is interested in this
legislation that recent reports published by the India Times that I
"tabled the bill" and have "been convinced by the ITAA that the
legislation will have negative repercussions on the U.S. industry" are
COMPLETELY FALSE! This is another dirty tactic by the individuals who
seek to see this bill destroyed.

I was extremely encouraged by all of the letters of support I received,
and I want to ensure that my Assembly colleagues, the individuals who
truly need convincing, are also notified of the tremendous support for
S1349/A2425. Please, do all that you can to bring your support for
S1349/A2425 to all of New Jersey's Assembly members. We must make it
clear that there is STRONG support for this bill as it is currently
written. For your convenience, the following is a list of Assembly
representatives who are accessible via e-mail. If you have not already
done so, please send your e-mails to them as soon as possible.

Again, thank you so very much for all of your help in seeing this
legislation through the process. I strongly believe that if we work
together, we will be successful.

never explained why this bill was tabled or by whom. I have many

The lobbyists representing corporations, labor, and NASSCOM prevailed
upon the Chair of the Assembly State Government Committee and its
members to hold the bill. I was asked by Chairman Steele to meet with
the opposition to come up with amendments that would be agreeable to
both parties. The Committee was unwilling to consider the bill as it
is currently written. I am not interested in gutting this bill. The
overwhelming support for this bill makes me confident that if we
contact the Assembly members to inform them of our interests in this
bill, we will be successful in moving the bill
in its current form. Our representatives will be most responsive to
those individuals who live in the State of New Jersey, and especially
those who reside in their districts.
