He makes a good point that the U.K. system may provide more safeguards than
the U.S. system. We will have to wait and see how their system holds up
against the relentless avarice and greed of global corporations.

Many thanks for the email. It is constructive to share views from both sides
of the Atlantic, our 'bulletin board' members are discussing your newsletter
at the moment. Although it is early days yet, there are some differences
between the situation in the UK and US - first of all, the PCG (contractors
body) have a seat on the body which regulates visa applications (it was
instrumental in removing the IT skills from the shortage list). Also,
although I completely understand your cynicism on this, jobs must be
advertised through proper recruitment channels before overseas visas are
issued, this is not the case in the US. We are more than aware of the
'tricks' used by corporations here and in the US, and I'm sure they will try
to find ways around the new system. We will be waiting for them.
