The Coalition for Fair Employment in Silicon Valley,
the Programmers Guild and the American Engineering
Association will hold an informational leafleting
session on the impact of the H1-B visa on unemployment
in technology industries at the Montgomery Street BART
station in San Francisco on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 4 p.m.
This is a reprise of our picketing outside the NASDAQ
in New York City two years ago with the CWA. CNN and
other media are expected to attend as well as several
persons who have filed complaints with the Civil
Rights Division of the U.S. Justice Department. We
are particularly interested in persons who have been
laid off from technology or telecom jobs over the past
few months who might be willing to talk about their
situations. We're attempting to find causes of action
for a major class action suit to end some of the
abuses of this program and to inform Congress of its
true impact prior to the end of the increased visa limits.
