Agilent to outsource back-end operations
The $8.5 billion technology equipment major, Agilent Technologies of US,
has
decided to outsource its internal back-end financial processing as well
as
its worldwide Intranet development and maintanence operations to its
Indian
subsidiary located at Gurgaon.

The $8.5 billion technology equipment major, Agilent Technologies of US,
has
decided to outsource its internal back-end financial processing as well
as
its worldwide Intranet development and maintanence operations to its
Indian
subsidiary located at Gurgaon.

Agilent Technologies International vice-president business strategy
Anita
Manwani said, "It is the first step to put India on the Agilent map.
Based
on the success of the Indian operations in the next few months, more and
more work is expected to come to India."

Agilent International will also be involved in the development of
software
products that are either embedded in or supplied with the company's
technology equipments in the areas of communication, electronics and
life
sciences, said Manwani. The Indian operations for next one year would be
equally divided into back end opertions and software reserach and
development operations.

"We already have around 100 employees here in India and would add around
400
more in the next 12 months," she added, indicating that the company was
in
the process of recuiting a head of back-end and software development
operations in India.

Manwani said: "India has a large pool of low cost high-skill
professionals.
That is why we are setting up the services organisation to increase our
presence in India."

Agilent Technologies is a spin-off of Hewlett-Packard (HP). Agilent was
floated to hive off the non-computer related business of the original
HP.
Agilent worldwide has around 41,000 employees and is present in more
than
120 countries.
